Tiziana Terranova (PhD in Media and Communications, Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, UK) is Professor of Sociology of Media and Communications at the Department of Human at Social Sciences at L’Orientale where she is also Director of the Inter-University Research Centre CRiTT (Centro di Ricerca sulle Tecnoculture Transnazionali) as well as a member of the board of directors of the Centre for Postcolonial and Gender Studies (CSPG) and of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence AI-CoDED on Artificial Intelligence, Communication and Democracy. She is also a Member of the editorial boards of the journals Studi Culturali (Il Mulino), Subjectivity (Palgrave), and Theory, Culture and Society (Sage); and of the transnational research collective Critical Computation Bureau. She is the author of Network Culture: Politics for the Information Age (Pluto Press, 2004); After the Internet: Digital Networks between Capital and the Common (Semiotexte/MIT Press, 2022) and the forthcoming Network Social (Minnesota University Press). Amongst her last publications are the special issue of the e-flux journal Recursive Colonialism, Speculative Computation and the Technosocial (2021), which she co-curated featuring her dialogues with Iain Chambers (“Technology, Postcoloniality and the Mediterranean) and Ravi Sundaram (“Colonial Infrastructures and Technosocial Networks”). Since 2024 she has been Research Affiliate at the Edmund W. Gordon Institute, Columbia University, NYC, USA. In 2026 she has become e co-recipient of a Global Collaboration Grant from Roberta Buffet Institute for Global Affairs (Northwestern University, Illinois, US).
